We finished the first school quarter on Friday. The children are glad for a break. I'm planning to take the next 9 weeks off. I've got 4 weeks until baby time and then I'm thinking I'll start up again when the baby is about 5 weeks. That will put me right back on track for the year. I'm anticipating taking a week off for Thanksgiving and possibly another week or two before we're done with K.
It's been really fun and the kids (and I) have learned alot. We memorized 9 bible verses and read through the book of Genesis. We examinded Joseph's life carefully. We also skipped ahead and read about Job for a few days too.
Katie struggled with phonics at first. Once we got past the vowel sounds she did much better. She breezed through math withou any struggle. She's now writing quite well. She could only write a few letters when we started school...she's learned alot! Jackson is starting to sound out words now and I can tell he's putting it together and will be reading soon.
Jackson is 5 and a half years old today! He's so creative and smart, he just amazes me. I look back at when he was a baby and struggled to reach each milestone. He didn't crawl until he was a year old and didn't walk until 18 months. But, I look at him now and I'd never guess he's the same little boy. Well, he's still not the athletic type, but he really is amazingly artistic and so smart. He makes charts and graphs, copies pictures exactly from books (and actually improves upon them). He writes poetry & books, invents stories. He really enjoys life and never seems to get bored. He's a great little guy!
