We're going to the Chapel Hill area for the weekend! The kids are excited about the hotel pool. Andrew and I are excited about the shops in Chapel Hill!
Then we're headed to Davidson to help my mother-in-law. She's having surgery on her hand and foot. We think it will be a difficult recovery.
We're headed home on Wednesday of next week, so it will be a short trip but hopefully worthwhile.
Jackson was sick with a cold last week, but is much better now. The weather keeps going from cold to hot every couple of days.
A couple of weeks ago the kids and I planted some seeds. We've started them indoors and will transplant them outside in the next few weeks when they're strong enough. We have about 12 tomato plants, 8 cilantro, 8 basil and 8 parsley. Everything is looking pretty good except for whatever reason the parsley is taking longer to sprout and is much slower growing. The kids have been really excited about them...watching them grow from seeds into little plants. They help to water them everyday.
Katie is just a tiny thing, but she is so very smart. She amazes me with her logic. I can't pull anything over on her, because she will reason it out and if it's not logical, she'll call me on it. She wants the long explanation for everything. She doesn't believe me when I say I don't know the answer to something, and wants me to look it up.
We've been reading about becoming nature detectives. Jackson loves it! He can pick out many different kinds of animal tracks and even tell which direction the animal went by looking at the tracks. Did you know that rabbit tracks look backwards? Since they jump forward putting their back feet in front of their front feet, the tracks appear to be going the opposite direction. Only true nature detectives can figure it out! :-)
Katie's birthday party is next month and she's gearing up. She wants a princess party. Cinderella, Belle (Beauty), and Sleeping Beauty. I'm thinking of having it either at the park or in the back yard. Hopefully it won't rain! This will be her first "invite friends" party!
